Call for Papers


Workshop Games, Activities, and Related Aspects in Second/Foreign Language Teaching
Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha
Toledo, 25th-26th April 2013

Introduction
The use of different games and activities is very common in second/foreign language classroom, and it has been reinforced due to the availability of electronic resources. Students’ motivation and the purpose of each game or activity are behind teachers’ interest in the creation and use of those materials. The topic of this workshop will include both theoretical proposals and practical experiences in the classroom, at any teaching level.
This invitation does not exclude topics on any language, although the official languages of the workshop are English, French and Spanish.

Participants:
Second/Foreign Language Teachers at any level (Primary School, High School, University, Official School of Languages, Language Schools, etc.)
Researchers and PhD Students
Post-graduate Students

Venue: Campus of Toledo

Topics:
The following topics are suggested, although others are also welcome:
Board games used as teaching support materials
Games and amusing activities for children
Teaching experiences with adults/children
Poetry as a teaching device
Drama in second language environments
Children’s literature and its entertaining aspects
Use of comics in second language teaching
Songs as a motivating element in the classroom
Use of audiovisual resources and ICT tools
Use of games and related activities in CLIL
Languages for Specific Purposes

Contribution format:
Paper (20 minutes + 10 minutes for questions)
Workshop (one hour)
Poster

Proposals for participation should be one page long including title of the communication, abstract in English, Spanish or French, and references. They should be sent to the email address all2toledo@gmail.com, as an attached .doc or .pdf file. The body of the email should include name, affiliation of the author or authors, lines of research/teaching experience, language the proposal is about and language to be used in the presentation, title of the paper and contribution format.

A selection of the contributions will be published.

An attendance certificate will be available for those participants who attend at least two thirds of the workshop.
